Enclosure Assemblies

Enclosure Assemblies

Enclosure assemblies per MIL-E-24142 share many characteristics, with size and shape being the major variables. They are all manufactured of solid brass. All are submersible to a depth of 15 feet. Wall thicknesses for enclosures up to size 6×9 are nominally 1/16″. For enclosures from 8×10 through 14×26 the wall thickness is nominally 3/32″. The wall thickness on enclosure size 20×24 is nominally 1/8″. Cable entrance is made through the flat side walls of the enclosures using stuffing tubes to maintain the watertight integrity. These enclosures are used for many of the Navy Standard Symbol Items such as terminal and connection boxes and fuse panels. Mounting plates are frequently installed in the bottom of the enclosures for mounting relays, transformers and other electrical and electronic equipment that must be protected from a hostile environment. Sizes range from 2-1/8×3″ to 20×24″ and are shown in detail on the “slant” sheets per MIL-E-24142. Other enclosure sizes are available in accordance with Navy Standard drawings plus, we can design special size enclosures with unique characteristics to suit your needs. Enclosures size 8×10 through 14×26 are available with domed covers or optional flat covers on which switches, fuseholders, indicator lights, etc. can be mounted. All are designed and constructed to withstand HI Shock per MIL-S-901 and vibration per MIL-STD-167. Approval letters are on file. Contact us if you don’t see what you need listed in our catalog.
